Investigative Report
Myra Cummings
Continuing my always fascinating
column with today's probing question. Why do terrible things happen?
Of course, depending
on your personality, terrible things may affect you in different ways.
For instance, if you are one of those obnoxious, gnat-brained, happy people,;
a terrible thing may be Jimmy the Weasel, (that's a DJ on Channel Z for
all you loyal Q102 fans) playing three hours of the Offspring and Bush;
whereas to someone else, this may be a good thing. It's all relative.
Back to the nature of
terrible things. People of different religions may regard this differently;
your denomination and amount of holiness may lead to your belief that bad
God may be punishing you for something you did. I am Catholic, and
I guess I'm supposed to believe something, like, my God is an angry God,
and punishes me for my mistakes, but I prefer to take the pre-destination
route - the old wrong place at the wrong time. If your house burns
down two days after you murder your neighbor, for instance, it may only
be because you left your oven on all day, not just because some higher
power is making things even.
Some cynicists think
that the worst things happen to the best people. I ten to agree;
not because i particularly have a high opinion of myself, but because I
compare what I do and what happens to me with this certain person (who
I do not think is a good person) and the stuff that happens to her.
While she has her share of problems, she always manages to end up on top
while I get shit on.
While this mainly reflects
on my personal experiences, I hope you find it applies to your life as
well.

this article was written about 4 years ago, we definitely need a new investigative
reporter
unless we could get this one back, which would be wonderful.
